About the Head First process... L.
E. Gata took each and every one of these pictures and spends most of
the time traveling the world in search of fantastic animals to
photograph.
The
challenge of being up-close and intimate with all types of animals just
adds to the excitement of a fun-filled career as an animal
photographer. The fish-eye lens opens the world to a new perspective on
these favorite friends. “L. E.” loves all animals, and has a deep and passionate concern for conserving all species on this planet.
Being
up close and personal is a privilege and there is nothing quite like
it. These animals are majestic, powerful, and playful, with expressive
personalities.
One
of the more interesting and never mentioned aspects of this
photography, is that in order for the camera to do it’s magic, L.E.
needs to be within 8 Inches of the animal being photographed!
Eight inches is no big deal when it comes to taking a picture of a cute and cuddly Collie or a playful tabby…
but it sure is a different story when the subject matter is a short-tempered 500 lb. Bengal tiger that shuns the camera like a Mafioso don.
Matter
of fact, a split second after “L.E.” shot this photograph on the right,
she almost gave new meaning to the term “let’s do lunch” by almost
becoming lunch !
…and if you want to see the last thing a Tibetan mountain goat sees
right before the lights go out… check out the picture of our snow
leopard getting ready to pounce. While only weighing 120 lbs., this cat can leap over 30 feet and take down prey more than 3 times it’s size!
